Ever since I came back from my vacation in Spain, I’ve been looking for a restaurant that serves tapas like the ones I tasted in Madrid and Barcelona. I have finally found a tapas restaurant that reminds me of my visit to Spain: Beso in Sarasota, FL.

The decor was welcoming and fresh and the service was extraordinary. We were greeted with friendly smiles and our waitress made sure to go over the menu with us. She gave the best suggestions and knew the menu in detail.

The Food at Beso

The food at Beso reminded me of the reason I fell in love with Spain and their Cuisine. The flavor was out of this world! Every dish that came out was prepared fresh and at the perfect temperature. There were a few dishes so delicious I went back to taste them again a few days later.

Must-Try Dishes:

• Tortilla Espanola: It’s like it was shipped straight from Spain. It’s a dish with layers of potatoes, onion and traditional egg
• Patatas Bravas: fried potatoes, paprika alioli, and chili flake
• Pa Amb Oil: fresh bread, tomato and garlic

Dishes You Can Live Without:

• The Paella: This isn’t authentic paella; it’s more of a just a rice dish and they were a little skimpy on the meat and spices. It was our least favorite dish there.
• Spanish Grilled Cheese: This was good, but tasted like your every day grilled cheese. You can be more adventurous at this restaurant! If you have a kid that is a picky eater though, this would satisfy them.

The Sangrias and Cocktails at Beso:

The sangrias and cocktails were top of the line. They make three different types of sangrias ranging from bitter to sweet. We shared a pitcher of the Sangria Robusto which was more on the sweeter side and it was excellent. Next time we’re going to order a cocktail so we can really enjoy the drinks!

We also ordered the Isabella cocktail. It was made with Cava, rose and grapefruit soda and she really enjoyed it.

They do offer their version of a happy hour that offers discounts on drinks!

Next time I’m in Sarasota, I will definitely go back to Beso! It’s now a staple for family meetup and gatherings! Check it out and let me know what you think!
